HOW IT ALL STARTED
Hi! Gail here. As an alumni of the US Ski Team and an interior & architectural designer for the past 25 years, I know a thing or two about perfecting the details.
I am the first female from Maine to make the US Alpine Ski Team. When I recall my first international race in Grindelwald, Switzerland, the race course wound through historic Swiss chalets and cow pastures. How cool was that? I can remember on race day the crowd rang traditional cow bells as they cheered for each racer. I developed an immediate love for Switzerland and vowed one day to design and build a Swiss chalet for my family.
I have always loved to ski. Cranking out the turns on a sunny day on fresh corduroy is as good as it gets. There's no better feeling than laying that ski over and feeling the power you generate...unless you are also a designer.
The doodling started early when my family would sail the Maine coast past shingle style beauties. I would photograph them, draw them, and always wondering- who lives there?
When passions collide
The power to take a dilapidated building or a blank canvas and see it's potential and follow it through to it's unveiling is incredibly powerful . I love hearing my clients react in appreciation and pure joy for what I have created for them. That feeling for me, is beyond rewarding. I often hear my clients say, "it turned out far more beautiful than I ever imagined." At that point I walk away with my big smile and whisper to myself, (I'm energized for another great run!)
Thank You
I want to say thank you to my clients for trusting me with one of their most important life endeavors - designing and building their personal spaces & homes. You make my career and life fulfilled and I'm rewarded every day. The thank yous wouldn't be complete without my two fabulous girls. They ski circles around me, drag me into the wilderness and teach me the value of the outdoors beyond the gates. Thank you Teddy & Katie for hanging in there while I pursued my education in interior and architectural design.
